11. Register for Career Training Programs
Career training programs offer certificates and industry certifications that you can usually complete between one year and a year and a half. Career Training Programs are meant to lead you directly into an exciting career upon graduating, which is different from a more general undergraduate degree.  Here is a list of resources that will allow you to learn more about different career trainings in a specialized field and enter the workforce.

Job corps is the largest free residential education and job training program for young adults ages 16–24. They connect you with the skills and education you need to get the career you want!

The Prince George’s County Workforce Program offers job skills and life skills training, paid internships, job placement services, GED preparation, one-on-one tutoring, case management, and support services for out-of-school youth ages 16-24.

Knowledge Equals Youth Success (KEYS) Careers program targets out-of-school youth ages 14 to 24 who have obtained their high school diploma or equivalent. We provide services to youth who are homeless, pregnant or parenting, ex-offender, or in foster care.

Training Grounds Inc. (TGI) is nonprofit organization that was established in 2005. Their mission is to assist youth and adults with personal, career and leadership development through various trainings, programs and collaborations.

Career and Technical Education Programs are like schools within a school. PGCPS adopted this model based on projected workforce trends and future employment opportunities within the Washington, DC Metropolitan Area.

Prince George's County is proud to announce the Youth@Work/Summer Youth Enrichment Program (Youth@Work/SYEP)! This countywide initiative connects youth to summer jobs and training programs being offered throughout the County. Youth will have opportunities to learn new job skills, learn about career tracks, develop their resumes and earn money through a meaningful work experience.

At YouthBuild programs in the United States and across the globe, low-income young people learn construction skills to help build affordable housing and other community assets such as community centers and schools.

The Training Source offers a vast array of programs, including Employment Training, Self-Improvement Workshops, Transitioning Youth and Youth Leadership. Their goal is to provide superior training and services to meet individual, community, and workplace development needs.

TeamBuilders Academy (TBA) is a Prince George’s Community College Workforce Development Program that provides job readiness-related soft skills training combined with occupational trade-related technical skills training. After instruction is provided to eligible Prince George’s County residents they are matched with local employers.

Woodstock Job Corps Center offers the skills you need to succeed in today’s workforce, at no cost to you or your family.
